Pepper is often described as the "king of spices," and it shares a place on most dinner tables with salt. The word pepper originates from the Sanskrit word pippali meaning "berry" and has been used for thousands of years in different innovative recipes. From salads to jollof rice to soups and sauces, peppers are always used to give the final touch to a memorable meal. You can use peppers to make pepper jelly, pepper paste, pepper flakes, pickled peppers, smoked peppers and can be used for spicing different soup and meaty dishes. Peppers add a rich flavour and an alluring color to meals. All peppers are rich in vitamins A, C, and K, in addition to the fiery spicy flavour that that bring to your meals. Antioxidant vitamins A and C help to prevent cell damage, cancer, and diseases related to aging, and they support immune function. They also reduce inflammation like that found in arthritis and asthma. Vitamin K promotes proper blood clotting, strengthens bones, and helps protect cells from oxidative damage.
